When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
The Sound of Music, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “My Favorite Things”, “Do-Re-Mi”, “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music.

In Joe Avati's new show he asks you to leave your political correctness at the door as he delivers his hilarious insights on how times have changed, for better or worse, since he grew up as a teenager in the 80’s.
Internationally renowned for his inimitable style, Avati, who is Australian born with an Italian heritage, is a master of treading the very fine line saying what everyone seems to think but no one dares to say whilst not resorting to the use of profanities or vulgar shock tactic routines in doing so.
In his latest offering WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE… he tackles the 'then versus now' generational differences of today's kids, the complexities of modern day parenting compared to the strict upbringing of yesteryear and threaded throughout all of this, he tackles the minefield of cancel culture, the woke brigade and why people are over political correctness. His observations are not only deadly accurate but extremely relatable to all ages.
This is a show for all the family. Bring your parents to highlight how much they have changed since they were your age, bring your friends to laugh and reminisce about growing up as teenagers when you were that age and most importantly bring your kids so that they know what you went through “when I was your age…”
G rated - suitable for children 10 and over.
