Due to phenomenal demand, Simon Yates of Touching the Void is returning to Nottingham Arts Theatre with his NEW talk, Pleasure and Pain.
With more than 80 expeditions to some of the world’s highest and most remote mountains behind him, Simon shares extraordinary stories from the past decade of exploration, from the far north and south to the peaks of South America, Central Asia and the Himalayas.
In 2023, Simon and fellow British climbing legend Mick Fowler attempted the previously unclimbed north face of Patkhor in Tajikistan. What followed became an epic ordeal: food poisoning high on the mountain, dwindling supplies, a forced retreat in worsening weather and a devastating 100-metre fall that left Simon seriously injured and stranded on a glacier awaiting rescue. When help finally arrived but could not carry him down, he faced an extraordinary three-day journey to safety.
A powerful evening of adventure, endurance and survival, Pleasure and Pain is a fast-moving, first-hand account from one of Britain’s most respected mountaineers and a must-see for anyone inspired by exploration, resilience and the limits of human determination.

Ten Midlands-based artists from Black, African and Caribbean backgrounds have created work that is brave, honest and highly evocative. Each brings their own unique voice to their performance, often turning the personal into the political.

Drippo Joel (Instagram: @drippo_joel) – the UK's answer to a sound you thought you'd lost – the warmth and swagger of noughties R&B, rebuilt for right now.
Alexis Florentina (Instagram: @exisflor) – a Black and Filipino poet, playwright and fiction writer, and member of the Nottingham Black Creatives Network.
Anthony Sempebwa (Instagram: @anto._13s) – a high-level dance artist specialising in hip-hop, while drawing from house, krump and Afro dance styles.
Expect an evening of frank storytelling, movement, rhythm and fresh perspectives – celebrating the creativity of regional Black artists while exploring prejudice, power and everyday truths in an unmissable production.
And Still I Rise is commissioned by 2Funky Arts and supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Project partners are Punch, Baby People and Radio2Funky.

Beatles Complete return to Nottingham to present a night of Beatlemania packed with massive hits from the most influential band of all time.
Having now performed over 300 shows at the world famous Cavern Club, this Liverpool based ‘beat combo’ are the youngest ever Beatles band to gain a residency at the Cavern Club in Liverpool where they still perform on Thursdays and some Saturdays. All aged in their early 20s, Beatles Complete are the closest thing you will get to the unbridled joy of seeing the young Beatles when they first lit up the world. They can’t promise all the screaming and tears from the 60’s but they can give you a host of classic songs brilliantly performed by a band who are becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Beatle world. Having performed at International Beatle Week for the last 5 years running, the lads have been invited to return again next year and are continuing to take their extended show to theatres across the UK.
